109 Thousand Vacancies at Universities

The highly anticipated university placement results have been announced. This year 672 thousand candidates became university students. A total of 109 thousand quotas remained vacant in 4-year undergraduate and 2-year associate degree programs.

Most high school seniors were placed in higher education. Straight high schools ranked first. Registrations to universities can be made between September 2-6.

University placement results, which students and parents were eagerly waiting for, were announced. 671 thousand out of 1 million 69 thousand candidates made a preference, 398 thousand did not make a preference. This number increased to 688 thousand when vocational high school students who have the right to choose without an exam are included. According to the placement results, 385 thousand of the 671 thousand students who became university students were placed in four-year undergraduate departments and 286 thousand in two-year schools. 205 thousand students preferred open education faculties. Thus, the total number of students settled in universities was 876 thousand. In formal higher education programs, 672 thousand 417 candidates were placed. 109 thousand 189 quotas remained vacant.

According to the results of the Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS), 672 thousand candidates became university students. 386 thousand of these students were placed in four-year and 286 thousand in two-year programs. Those who have the right to enroll in universities will be able to register between September 2-6. After the placements, a total of 109 thousand 189 quotas remained vacant in 4-year undergraduate and 2-year associate degree programs. Students are waiting for the additional placement date to be announced by ÖSYM to take advantage of this chance.

According to the placement results, 398 thousand of the 1 million 69 thousand students who had the right to make a preference did not use this right. When vocational high school students who have the right to choose without an exam are included, the number of candidates who did not make a preference was 688 thousand. 205 thousand candidates preferred open education faculties. Thus, the total number of people who settled, including open education, was 877 thousand 784. 574 thousand 968 candidates settled in the undergraduate and associate degree quotas of state universities. A total of 74 thousand 778 quotas, 14 thousand 922 of which were undergraduate, remained vacant. 89 thousand 657 candidates were entitled to enroll in 113 thousand 170 undergraduate and associate degree quotas of foundation universities. 23 thousand 513 quotas can be re-preferred. 7 thousand 792 candidates settled in the 18 thousand 690 quotas allocated to universities in the TRNC and other countries. In total, 672 thousand 417 candidates settled in the 781 thousand 606 quotas of formal higher education programs, while 109 thousand 189 quotas remained vacant.

According to the data announced by ÖSYM, most students were placed in universities at the senior high school level. In this context, 395 thousand students, including 191 thousand undergraduate, 165 thousand associate degree and 38 thousand open education, became university students out of 800 thousand candidates in their last year. Of the 606 thousand candidates who were not placed in previous years, 153 thousand 604 were placed in undergraduate programs, 82 thousand in associate degree programs and 97 thousand 473 in open education programs. As in previous years, approximately 90 thousand university graduates and 375 thousand university students took the exam. Of the 374 thousand 875 candidates who had not been placed in a university before, 94 thousand achieved their university dream. While 90 thousand of those who have completed a higher education program applied to university, 28 thousand of them were placed in the university.

According to the results, those who could not be placed in any department will have their eyes on additional placement. The second chance in the university marathon is expected to be given in the 2nd week of September.
